Protects against total dust ingress and moderate water jets. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IP66:<\/strong> recommended for outdoor use, coastal areas or frequent higher-pressure washdowns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IP67: necessary when there&#8217;s a risk of occasional flooding or brief submersion of the enclosure.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IP68:<\/strong> for equipment that&#8217;s permanently submerged or in extreme sealing conditions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-white-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-white-background-color has-background\" style=\"margin-top:47;margin-bottom:47\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The most common mistake: thinking a high IP rating makes up for poor material quality<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is probably the most widespread misunderstanding when specifying an electrical enclosure. The IP rating certifies the enclosure&#8217;s sealing at the moment of testing, but it says nothing about how the enclosure material will hold up over time against corrosion, chemical agents or salt exposure. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An IP66 enclosure made of painted steel may perform its function perfectly in the first year. The difference is in the second digit: IP65 protects against moderate water jets, IP66 against more powerful jets, and IP67 against temporary immersion. <\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-white-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-white-background-color has-background\" style=\"margin-top:22;margin-bottom:22\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does IP67 protect against pressurized water jets?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not necessarily.
